- 4 fillets salmon 6 oz each, skin-on or skinless
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped, for garnish
- 4 wedges lemon for serving
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Pat salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add salmon fillets and sear for 3-4 minutes until golden. Flip and sear another 2 minutes on the other side.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Transfer skillet with salmon to preheated oven. Bake for 5-8 minutes depending on thickness, until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
During the last 2 minutes of baking, brush honey glaze generously over each fillet. Return to oven briefly to let glaze caramelize.
Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
- Bring salmon to room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking for even results
- Don't skip the searing step - it creates essential flavor through caramelization
- Watch glaze carefully during final minutes to prevent burning
- Salmon continues cooking after removal from heat, so pull when just barely opaque
- Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days
