Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium head green cabbage cut into 1-inch thick steaks
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese divided
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 small onion finely chopped

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush cabbage steaks with olive oil on both sides and season with half the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Mix ground beef with chopped onion, remaining seasonings, red pepper flakes, parsley, and half the cheese. Form into 4-6 patties.
  • Remove pan from oven. Top each cabbage slice with 1 tbsp tomato sauce, a beef patty, more sauce, and remaining cheese. Bake 15-20 minutes until beef is cooked (160°F) and cheese is melted.
  • Let rest 2-3 minutes. Serve hot.

Notes

    >Pat cabbage dry for crispier results. >Broil last 2 minutes for extra cheesy bubble. >Serve with pickles or mustard.
